A Bay Shore business has recalled two of its pastry products after state officials found it contained soy, the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food said on Tuesday.

Those who purchased Semita and Pan Chapin sweet breads manufactured by Genesis Bakery on Drayton Avenue were urged not to consume the product because soy was not listed as an ingredient on the label, Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball said in a statement.

"People who have allergies and/or severe sensitivity to soy run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products," the statement said.

Products packaged in clear wrap with Semita’s UPC Code #648733000036 and an expiration date of March 28, and Pan Chapin’s UPC Code#648733000029 and an expiration date of March 29, are subject to the recall.

The pastry products were sold at retail stores in the tristate area, Ball said.

The contamination was discovered after food inspectors sampled the product and an analysis found the products contained soy.
