Google's preferred sources feature lets users choose their favorite sites for a more personalized search experience.

A single setting in Google can get you more of the information you want: Preferred news sources.

This feature lets you choose your favorite websites to see more results from the services you subscribe to and the people you follow. You can choose as many news outlets as you'd like and change your preferences at any time. Selecting Newsday as a preferred source means you'll see more Long Island news and updates prioritized in your feed.

Here's how it works

Many Google searches now display results in a Top Stories module or an AI Overview. That AI Overview generates a summary compiled from various sources. Designating your preferred news outlets prioritizes these sources for more personalized search results.

How to select Newsday as a preferred source

Click here and check the box to make Newsday a preferred Google source to see more Long Island news, things to do, sports and entertainment in your search results.

You can update your preferred sources by tapping the icon next to the Top Stories module. Use the search box to find news outlets by name and check the box next each to designate.
