A Great Neck couple is facing tax fraud charges after the Nassau County District Attorney’s office said they failed to pay more than $60,000 in state taxes.

District attorney officials said Tom Hopkins, 51, a doctor, and his wife Annahid Hopkins, 38, a pharmacist, were charged Thursday with three counts each of third degree criminal tax fraud and one count of Repeated Failure to File Personal Income and Earnings Taxes, all felonies.

In a release, officials said the pair did not file income tax returns for 2010, 2011 and 2012, and as a result, avoided paying $63,198 in state taxes. Combined, the couple made at least $400,000, $350,000 and $125,000 a year.

Tom Hopkins surrendered to DA investigators on March 30 and Annahid Hopkins surrendered on April 1.

Judge William Hohauser, in arraignment in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday, released the couple on their own recognizance. They are due back in court on May 6.

Jonathan B. Manley, a Hauppauge attorney representing the couple, did not return a call seeking comment.
