Assemb. Michelle Schimel (D-Great Neck) and gun regulation activists plan to discuss gun laws at a panel discussion Jan. 30 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock.

The church's Social Justice Committee will host a panel called "Gun Sense in America." Schimel will be joined by the executive director of New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, Leah Gunn Barrett; founding member of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, June Rubin; and author and activist Lois Schaffer.

Panelists are expected to discuss the demand for tougher federal and state gun laws.

Aaron Watkins-Lopez is to moderate the panel, which is free and open to the public.

The event is scheduled at 7:30 p.m.
