A woman was killed Friday morning after she lost control of her car, which then plunged into an in-ground pool in Hewlett Bay Park, Nassau police said.
The woman, 40, lost control of a 2023 GMC in the driveway of an Elinor Road home shortly before 9:30 a.m., according to a Nassau County Police Department news release. She struck a tree and an unoccupied 2006 Honda before “becoming immersed in an inground pool,” police said.
Before police arrived, she was removed from the SUV, the release said. Officers performed “life saving measures” before she was transported to the hospital where she was declared deceased.
Police did not otherwise identify the woman.
An investigation into the incident, which the release described as a “fatal vehicular accident,” remains ongoing. A Nassau police spokesperson could not immediately confirm if the woman lived at the residence where the incident occurred.
