Atlantic beaches on Long Island face a high risk of rip currents for Monday, the National Weather Service said.

The service's Upton office issued a special statement on rip currents for South Shore beaches in Nassau and Suffolk counties effective until 8 p.m. Monday.

The statement also covers beaches in Brooklyn and Queens, the service said.

Surf height is expected to reach 4 to 6 feet, the service said.
