Hillary Clinton outraised Bernie Sanders on LI, reports show
Last month, when Hillary Clinton won New York’s Democratic presidential primary, her campaign also raised more money than Bernie Sanders in New York and on Long Island, recent campaign finance filings show.
In April, Clinton raised $3.1 million statewide, with $350,713 of it from Long Island. Sanders took in $1.5 million across the state, including $134,820 on Long Island.
Those totals represent contributions from donors identified as giving $200 or more. Adjust those figures for small unidentified donors — which represent 61 percent of Sanders’ national contributions and 21 percent of Clinton’s — and Sanders nearly matches her.
But Clinton also collected $3.6 million from New York donors last month at fundraisers held jointly with the Democratic National Committee — an arrangement Sanders has criticized.
