Kelly Currie, acting U.S. attorney, returns to private practice
Kelly Currie, who headed the U.S. attorney’s office for Brooklyn and Long Island after the departure of Loretta Lynch to become attorney general, announced Thursday that he is returning to private law practice.
Currie’s tenure as acting U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York included the filing of a sweeping indictment against officials in FIFA, the governing body of worldwide soccer.
Robert Capers, a career prosecutor, was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Lynch’s permanent replacement in December.
Currie is returning to the Manhattan office of Crowell & Moring, the law firm where he worked before joining Lynch’s office.
The attorney general, in a statement, called him a “consummate public servant.”
