An inaugural "Kitten Bowl" featuring Beth Stern as the host and Yankees announcer John Sterling calling the action, debuted Sunday at noon on the Hallmark Channel with an all-Long Island lineup.
The pre-taped program, which was filmed in October, consisted of two playoff games and a championship match, along with basic obstacle courses of hurdles, tunnels, hoops, jumps, weave poles and lasers.
Celebrities such as Nicky Hilton, Rachael Ray and Regis Philbin got into the action, making guests appearances.
The program was a hit among animal lovers and their furry companions. On social media, #KittenBowl was trending and dozens of people tweeted photos of their cats watching the on-screen feline action.
Fans also could vote on Twitter and Facebook for their favorite players to win the Most Valuable Kitten award. As of 7:15 p.m., no one had been crowned yet, but Ferrell Owens, Snowball and Tomcat Brady had the most votes.
