A Shirley man found asleep at the wheel of his car early Monday in Medford is facing a drunken driving charge, State Police said.
A motorist saw Delvin Lyons, 35, asleep in the driver's seat, and flagged down a trooper, police said.
The trooper approached the car at 1:10 a.m. on the eastbound service road of the Long Island Expressway at the Route 112 intersection, and found it was in drive with the motor running, police said.
Lyons had a breath analyzer reading of 0.09 percent, police said. He was charged with driving while intoxicated.
In another case Sunday evening, a Kings Park woman was arrested on a drunken driving charge after a trooper stopped her about 8:30 p.m. for an unsafe lane change, also on the eastbound service road, this time near the William Floyd Parkway exit, police said.
Deborah Chestnut, 60, had a breath analyzer reading of 0.19 percent, more than twice the legal limit, police said.
