Albertine Gagnier

Griffith born Sept. 4, 1909, in upstate Churubusco, is one of eight children. She graduated from St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, and began her teaching career in Helena, N.Y. In the 1930s she drove across the United States and also sailed to Europe. She moved to Riverhead, where she met and married John T. Griffith, now deceased. They had a son, Thomas, and a daughter, Colette. Albertine was a French teacher for Plainview Old Bethpage and John F. Kennedy high schools for many years. She has three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She plays bridge and does the Jumble in Newsday. She celebrated her birthday at the Old Bethpage Restoration Village and received a Certificate of Recognition from Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano.
