Centenarian: Alexander R. Calabrese
Alexander R. Calabrese was born July 29, 1913, in Manhattan. He worked in the Garment District where he met Genevieve (Jean) Milo, whom he married July 23, 1938. Shortly after, Alexander served in World War II. When he returned, they moved to West Hempstead, where they raised two children, Anthony and Judith. Alexander worked for the LIRR. After retiring, they moved to Florida but in 2009 moved back to Long Island. Widowed in 2010, Alexander moved to Deer Park to live with his daughter. He has five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He enjoys watching the Yankees and horse races on TV. He celebrated at a party with family and received a plaque and certificate from the U.S. Railroad Retirement Board.
