Alvera "Vera" Aquila was born March 17, 1913, in Port Washington and was raised in Queensboro Hill, Queens. She married Rocco, and they moved to Corona, Queens, where she worked for a rain coat factory. She was widowed in 1983 after 46 years of marriage. She has two daughters, Arlene and Carol. She moved to Bellmore, where she has lived for the past 35 years. She has four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She enjoys shopping and baking Easter pies with her family. She celebrated her birthday with family and friends at The Coral House on Milburn Lake in Baldwin.
