Centenarian: Betty Bezas
BETTY BEZAS was born Dec. 25, 1912, in Greece. As a teenager she immigrated to the United States with her husband Zachary, now deceased. They had three daughters, Catherine, Loretta and Irene. They lived in Wyandanch. Betty was instrumental in establishing the hot lunch program at the Half Hollow Hills School District in Dix Hills in the 1940s. Betty was widowed in 1956. She loves to travel, visit with family and go to various restaurants. She enjoyed crocheting afghans, which she donated. She lives at Sunrise Senior Living in East Setauket. Betty has five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 11 step-grandchildren. She celebrated her birthday with family and friends at the Stony Brook Yacht Club.
