Carmela Bongiorno, born April 20, 1912, in the Williamsburg North Side section of Brooklyn, had 11 siblings (all now deceased) born to Giuseppe and Vincenza DeSena from Nola, Italy. Carmela married Giuseppe (Joe) Bongiorno (now deceased). She worked many years at her husband's ladies' coat manufacturing business and at Leviton in Brooklyn. She moved with her family to Valley Stream's Gibson section in the '60s and later moved to Middle Village, Queens, where she now lives. Relatives say her main interests in life are family and cooking. She has two sons, John and Joseph, as well as a daughter-in-law, Madeline, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She celebrated her birthday at home with family.
