Catherine Lenahan was born in Manhattan on March 18, 1911. She later moved to Queens and worked for Western Union where she met and married Russell Cantwell (now deceased) in 1931. They had five children, Bob, Gerri, Carol, Cathy and Marion. Later, Catherine worked for Time magazine, retiring in 1972 as supervisor of the wire services. She married Walter Dougherty (now deceased) in 1973. She did volunteer work for Immaculate Conception Church in Astoria until 1989. In 2000, she went to live with her daughter Carol in Mastic. She celebrated her birthday at the Fox Hill Inn in Connecticut with friends and family, including her 21 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She has lived in Hancock Hall in Bethel, Conn., since 2007.
