Centenarian: Evridiki Vlahakis
Evridiki Vlahakis was born March 18, 1911. She immigrated to the United States from Crete, Greece, on April 18, 1962. She lived in Manhattan with her son, Steve, and worked in the garment industry. She moved to Oceanside in 1967 to live with her son and daughter-in-law, Maria. Evridiki helped raise her four grandchildren. She enjoys reading Greek newspapers and religious books, watching TV, discussing politics and visits from her family. She has 12 great-grandchildren. She celebrated her birthday at home with family and friends. Evridiki attributes her longevity to eating pasta, rice and white bread.
