Centenarian: Flora Gaska
FLORA GASKA, née Marsicovetere, was born Dec. 19, 1908, in Manhattan. She had two brothers (one is deceased), and three sisters (two are deceased). The family moved to Albertson 83 years ago, and Flora attended Manhasset High School before leaving to help her family during World War II. She worked as a secretary, a waitress and in a tailoring shop. She married Randolph in 1930 and had three children, Linda, Randy and Dolly. Flora belonged to the Albertson Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for 25 years. A Mets fans, she lives at Meadowbrook Care Center in Freeport, where she enjoys reading, bowling, crafts, yoga, music and family visits. She has five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
