Frances Katz was born July 12, 1906, in the Bronx, one of seven children. She married Michael Katz in 1928 and moved to Lawrence, where they raised three children, Lila and Stanley (both deceased) and Alice. According to Frances' family, she is a gracious and inspirational woman. She enjoyed traveling and cooking and baking for family and friends. She played the violin until she was 90. In the 1960s Frances and her husband moved to Manhattan. They retired in the late 1970s. Frances was married for 70 years before being widowed in 1999. She lived independently in Greenwich Village until she was 103, when she moved to the Huntington Hills Rehabilitation Center in Melville, where she enjoys conversation, getting dressed up in matching clothes and jewelry, and putting on makeup. She has five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
