Centenarian: Frances Ostro
FRANCES OSTRO was born Dec. 3, 1912, in Manhasset, to Peter and Mariann Kleckowski. Frances had four siblings; one brother, Peter, survives and lives upstate. Her father was a caretaker of the W.R. Grace estate in Manhasset; her family lived in a cottage on the estate and she attended Manhasset schools. She married John Ostro on Oct. 20, 1935, and lived at her husband's family home in New Hyde Park. Frances has a daughter, Barbara Ostro Swasey, of New Hyde Park. Frances was widowed in 2000. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting, crocheting and was an accomplished seamstress. She has one granddaughter and two great-grandsons. She celebrated her birthday with family and friends.
