George Gordon was born Sept. 22, 1902, in East Harlem. He came to Grace Plaza Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Great Neck eight years ago from his apartment in Manhattan where he lived alone until he was 100. In 1916, George graduated from Manhattan's Rabbi Jacob Joseph School and from Dewitt High School in 1920. He worked as a sales representative for a company that imported food from Europe. George started reading The New York Times in 2006 and now reads it daily. He celebrated his birthday at Grace Plaza with family and friends. According to staff he is extremely sharp and charming. George attributes his longevity to the single life and a light diet.
