Centenarian: Giuseppina Albanese Calabrese
Giuseppina Albanese
Calabrese was born March 5, 1913, in Sicily. She married Bartolo Calabrese in 1934 and had two daughters, Mimi and Lina. In 1956, Giuseppina and her family immigrated to America, settling in East New York. Giuseppina worked for the Eclipse Mattress Co. In 1970, Giuseppina and Bartolo returned to Sicily. She was widowed in 1980. In 1985, she returned to America to be with family. Giuseppina loves gardening, cooking and baking; she also crochets and knits. She lives in Elmont with her daughter Mimi and son-in-law, Damiano. Giuseppina celebrated her birthday at Pompei Ristorante with her daughters and sons-in-law, four grandchildren and their spouses, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
