Helen Hager, born May 2, 1911, was one of 15 children (all siblings are deceased), born to Mary and Andrew Neder on a farm in Hicksville. Helen wed Joseph Hager in 1935 and had four children. They lived in Melville, where they ran a potato farm. Helen enjoyed her flower garden, canning vegetables, baking and making jelly. In 1960 she moved to Wyandanch where she worked in a kitchen at Half Hollow Hills School District, retiring at 71. She was widowed in 1972. She has seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Helen lives in Setauket with her son, Joseph. She enjoys watching the birds from her window and playing solitaire. She celebrated her birthday at home with family.
