Centenarian: Helen Visco

Helen Visco was born April 17, 1912, in Manhattan to Mary and Michael Borys, who immigrated from Ukraine. They settled on the Lower East Side, where Helen attended Our Lady of Sorrows Grammar School. She had three brothers and one sister (all now deceased). She enjoyed sewing and making clothes. She wed Michael Visco Nov. 19, 1933, and had two children, Michael, now deceased, and Caroline. Helen was widowed in 1990. She has seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She lived in Glendale, Queens, for 45 years before moving to Highfield Gardens Care Center in Great Neck in 2007. She enjoys crocheting and scrapbooking. She celebrated her birthday with family and friends at the Douglaston Club in Queens.
