HERMAN SOLOMON was born Oct. 23, 1910, in Romania. He came to America at 10 with his parents and three siblings. The family settled on the Lower East Side. He got his first job at 15 as an errand boy and attended school once a week until he was 17. At 18, he worked for an electrical contractor where he met his future wife, Bertie. Herman and Bertie lived in Williamsburg before moving to Forest Hills where they raised two daughters, Sheila and Sharon. Herman worked until he was 80. He now lives at Atria Great Neck where he enjoys poker, bingo and family visits. He celebrated his birthday there with family and friends. He has four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
