Centenarian: Joseph Hyman Schenker

JOSEPH HYMAN SCHENKER was born on Oct. 15, 1912, in Poland. He immigrated to America with his parents when his was 6. He was married to Beatrice Cohen Schenker and had three daughters, Linda, Robin and Sheree. Joseph was married for more than 50 years before being widowed. He worked in Manhattan's Garment District. He enjoyed photography, oil painting, chess, fishing, collecting coins and stamps and baking blueberry pies. He has six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Joseph lives in Far Rockaway and enjoys spending time with his daughter, Linda Abolafia, who lives in Selden. He celebrated his birthday at Perry's Restaurant in Brooklyn with family and friends.
