Centenarian: Josephine Mele

Josephine Mele was born March 3, 1912, in Manhattan. As a child -- she was one of 11 -- her family moved to Brooklyn. She married Michael (Babe) Mele in 1941, and they had three children, Michael, Barbara and Fran. In 1969 the family moved to West Islip. Josephine was widowed in 1979. She lives with Barbara, and son-in-law Jack in West Islip. Josephine has 3 grandchildren and two great-grandsons. She loves music from the '40s. She celebrated her birthday at Chateau La Mer in Lindenhurst with family and friends.
