Centenarian: Lucille Cappiello
Lucille Cappiello was born Feb. 22, 1911, in Ruvo Del Monte, Potenza, Italy. In 1921 she came to America with her mother and brother, Anthony, to join her father who had immigrated years before them. She attended school in Queens and graduated from the eighth grade at 15. She went to business school at night and worked during the day at Woolworth's as a bookkeeper. She married Peter Cappiello, had two children and lived in Sea Cliff. Lucille was widowed after 52 years of marriage. She worked at Macy's for 15 years. She loved to play cards, bake, do cross-stitch and make crafts. Lucille has five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She lives at Jones Manor in Bayville where she enjoys activities and visits from family. She celebrated her birthday there with family, friends and residents.
