Centenarian: Marie Evelina Sanon Saint-Jacques

Marie Evelina Sanon Saint-Jacques was born on Aug. 15, 1913, in Beaumont, Haiti. She married Saul Sanon (now deceased) and had eight children. Three of her children live in the United States. Marie has more than 45 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She arrived in the United States when she was 85 years old so she could live with her daughter in Elmont. According to her family, Marie continues to impart to each generation words of wisdom to live by: "love and mutual support for each other" and her greatest desire is to be able to vote in a U.S. presidential election.
