Centenarian: Marie Haussler Sturm

Marie Haussler Sturm, born Sept. 13, 1911, at home in St. James, is one of four children born to Irene Overton and Theodore Haussler. Marie graduated from Smithtown Branch High School in 1929. She married Richard Sturm, now deceased, in 1933 and had two daughters, Shirley Bishop of Florida and Judy Dudley (now deceased). Marie has five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She enjoyed walking, swimming, playing pinochle and tatting. Marie likes doing Newsday crossword puzzles. She has lived in her own home for 82 years with the assistance of her grandson and an aide.
