Centenarian: Marie McDonough-Byrnes

MARIE MCDONOUGH-BYRNES, born Nov. 5, 1910, at home in Cedarhurst, is the second of five siblings and the only girl. She married Thomas McDonough and had three children, Thomas Jr., Steven and Nancy. Marie was widowed in 1981. She married James Byrnes in 1984 and extended her family with three more daughters, Agnes, Carol, Diane, and a son, Arthur (who is deceased). Marie worked for the New York Telephone Co. for 39 years before retiring in 1969. She celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends at the Knollwood Country Club in Elmsford. Marie lives independently in Ridge. She enjoys reading, puzzles and playing cards with her friends and family. Marie has 16 grandchildren and 30 great- grandchildren.
