Centenarian: Mary Carter, nee Kubicki
Mary Carter, née Kubicki, was born Dec. 1, 1911, in South Huntington. She was a member of the first graduating class, in 1930, of South Huntington Central High School. She married Earl H. Carter in 1935 and settled in Huntington Station where they raised two daughters, Barbara Farrell and Jeanne Bartsch. Mary has four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was widowed in 1973. She lived in her own home until the age of 98 and then moved to Cold Spring Hills Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation in Woodbury, where she enjoys the activities, playing bingo and having visitors. She is an avid reader. Mary celebrated her birthday with a luncheon there with family and friends and received a citation signed by Huntington Town officials.
