Centenarian: Mary E. Petralia of Sayville
Mary Esther Petralia, born Nov. 28, 1910, on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada, is one of seven kids born to John Hale Lewis and Annie Smiley. Mary attended nursing school in Yonkers becoming an RN. She met Tom Petralia (now deceased) at the school's graduation dance. They married in 1941 and had a son, Tom Jr. They moved to Mastic Beach from the Ridgewood section of Brooklyn in 1967, but had a summer home in Mastic Beach since 1950. She volunteered at St. Brigid's Parish in Brooklyn and joined St. Jude's Parish when they moved to Mastic Beach. She has a daughter-in-law, Ginny, and a grandson, Sam. Mary lives at Petite Fleur Nursing Home in Sayville where she enjoys visits from friends and family including sister-in-law Rosalie Signorelli, and niece Jeanine Signorelli.
