Centenarian: Mary Furno
Mary Furno was born May 9, 1912, in East New York, Brooklyn. She is the eldest of seven children born to Joseph and Carmela Marinazzo. Mary graduated from Brooklyn Leading School of Design Academy in 1936 and shortly after married Peter Furno. She was widowed after 49 years of marriage. Mary was a talented seamstress. She made her bridesmaids' gowns and maid of honor's gown. She has lived in Holbrook for the past 33 years. She enjoys spending time with her family. Mary has two sons, Gaetano (Sonny) and Joseph, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She celebrated her 100th birthday at Bistro 25 in Sayville with family.
