Mary "Mae" Bennett was born May 28, 1911, in East New York. She married N. William Bennett and had four children, Barbara (now deceased), Joan, Edward and Marianne. They lived in Brooklyn before moving to Plainview in 1952. Mae was widowed Dec. 23, 1982. She worked for Western Union in Manhattan as a telegraph operator and was a LILCO account representative. She was co-leader of the charismatic prayer group for Our Lady of Mercy Church in Hicksville. She has 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She has lived in Levittown with her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter for the past 10 years. She enjoys writing about her family and 30 years as a eucharistic minister. She celebrated her birthday at Wall's Wharf in Oyster Bay and at a party at the Knights of Columbus in Bellmore with family.
