NICHOLAS PELUSO was born Sept. 25, 1911, in Hempstead. He is a self-taught beautician and owned shops in Hempstead and West Hempstead. His wife, Florence, who worked with him in their shops, died in 1995 after 56 years of marriage. After closing the beauty shop, Nick had a 15-year career with The Roosevelt Savings Bank. In his earlier years he was a 200- average bowler, played golf, umpired softball games and was among the founders of the West Hempstead Little League. He was a 65-year active member of the West Hempstead Fire Department. Nick has two sons, five grandsons and six great-grandchildren. He lives at White Oaks Nursing Home in Woodbury where he celebrated his birthday with family and friends.
