Odessa Cosma was born on April 5, 1907, in Holly Springs, Miss. She came to New York at age 15, after her mother died, to live with her aunt. In 1930 she met and married John Cosma and had five children. She was widowed in 1991 after 61 years of marriage. Odessa has two children, seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. According to her family, she is a very wise, strong-willed, comical and loving person. She lives in Springfield Gardens, Queens, with her daughter. She enjoys weekly visits from family members who live in Elmont and in Queens.
