Centenarian: Ruth Blumenthal Meyberg
Ruth Blumenthal
Meyberg was born Feb. 7, 1908, in Stallupönen, East Prussia, a part of modern Lithuania. She is a Holocaust survivor who was incarcerated by the Nazis for 61/2 years. She was married to Walter Blumenthal, who died of typhus soon after liberation, on June 7, 1945. She lived three years in Holland with her two children, Marion Blumenthal Lazan and Albert Blumenthal. Ruth immigrated to America living in Peoria, Ill., and San Francisco. She has three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Ruth lives in Far Rockaway but enjoys spending time at her daughter's home in Hewlett.
