Centenarian: Sally Fink of Huntington
Sally Fink celebrated her 100th birthday Jan. 15. She was born in Manhattan during the Blizzard of 1910 to Abraham and Rose Sweedler from Vilna, Russia. Sally was the second of four children. Early on, she lived in the Bronx, on a dairy farm in upstate Hurleyville and in Brooklyn. She worked for an insurance company for 13 years before marrying Moe Fink, an electrical contractor, during the Great Depression. They had three children and lived in Brooklyn for more than 55 years. Sally was a winter sports enthusiast who enjoyed skiing and ice skating. She has four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She lives at Huntington Hills Center, where she enjoys reading and doing Newsday crossword puzzles.
