Centenarian: Sally Spiegelglas, of Plainview

Sally Spiegelglas was born April 17, 1910, in Manhattan, to parents who emigrated from Austria. When she was 1, her family moved back to Austria, where they lived for eight years. Her father fought in World War I in the Austrian army. She recalls frequent moves during the war years, food shortages and the sounds of battle. She lived in Florida before moving to Somerset Gardens Senior Living in Plainview in 2007. She enjoys visits from her two sons, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her hobbies include watching sports and movies on TV and knitting occasionally.
