THELMA SHUSHAN was born Jan. 10, 1913, on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and was raised in the Bronx. She lived in Brooklyn before moving to Queens, where she remained for 57 years. She married George in 1937 and had two children. Thelma was married for 64 years before being widowed in 2001. She has four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She enjoys baking, especially mandel bread, knitting sweaters for infants and family members and spending time at her son's home in Plainview. According to her family, Thelma is independent and has a sharp wit. She celebrated her birthday at a restaurant in Plainview with family and friends.
