Centenarian: Viola Klonowski of Massapequa
Viola Klonowski, nee Zaborski, of Massapequa, was born July 19, 1910, and raised in Maspeth, Queens. She was married to Walter Gotard, now deceased, for 17 years. She worked for Loft Candies and New York Telephone Co. She married Steven Klonowski in 1951, and was widowed in 1965. Viola enjoyed crocheting and traveling to many countries. She lives with her son, Tom, and daughter-in-law, Joyce Gotard. She celebrated her birthday at a luncheon at the Irish Coffee Pub in East Islip with family and friends, including her three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Viola enjoys playing bingo and is a Mets fan. In honor of her 100th birthday the Mets invited her as their guest to the Aug. 1 game at Citi Field.
