VIVIAN TROIA, born Dec. 19, 1912, in Polizzi Generosa, Italy, is one of nine children of Santo and Maria Fiasconaro. Vivian has three surviving siblings, Jean, Domenica and Connie. Vivian, along with her parents and older brother, arrived at Ellis Island in 1913 and settled in Brooklyn. Vivian was a seamstress for a lingerie maker and was often asked to model products for elite clients. She wed Joseph Troia in 1949 and had two daughters, Sandra and Maria. Vivian has three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren (a ninth is now deceased). After being widowed in 1992, she lived on her own until she was 95 when she moved to St. Joseph's Guest Home in Huntington under the care of the Missionary Sisters of St. Benedict. Vivian celebrated there with family and friends.
