Chet Doboe, of Uniondale, has been inducted into the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame and received the prestigious President’s Award. Doboe is the founder and lead drummer of the Hip Pickles Drum Band, a drummers-only ensemble that has performed at venues ranging from corporate meetings to sporting events like the U.S. Open. He is also a co-founder of an annual “Drumming for Our Veterans” benefit concert, which raises money for veterans serviced by Long Island VA Hospitals. He has also authored 21 drumming instruction books, has won numerous drumming championships and has performed for more than 1,000 schools.
