East Meadow

Jewelry was discovered stolen April 13 from a residence on Prospect Avenue.

A 2000 Honda Civic was stolen from in front of a residence on Preston Road April 14.

Massapequa

Thefts from three vehicles parked on Ocean Avenue, Lucille Court and Baldwin Place were discovered April 17. Two of the vehicles were broken into, and one vehicle was unlocked. Items stolen included GPS units, iPods and cameras.

Four tires and rims were discovered stolen from a 2004 Jeep parked on Franklin Place on April 14. A car jack used to raise the vehicle was left under the rear axle.

Merrick

Thefts from five vehicles parked on Berkshire and Rugby roads were discovered April 14. Three of the vehicles were broken into, and two were unlocked. Items stolen included a handbag, GPS units, a wallet and a laptop computer.

North Massapequa

A Hempstead man, 47, was arrested April 14 at Waldbaum's on Hicksville Road and charged with theft and possession of heroin.

Plainview

An automobile on Knickerbocker Road was discovered damaged by BB gun pellets April 11.

Wantagh

An attempted burglary occurred April 15 at a Stephen Lane residence. A planter underneath a rear bathroom window was found overturned and the window screen pried open. A neighbor recalled seeing an unknown male teen wearing shorts and a white T-shirt going door-to-door in the neighborhood.

A laptop computer and a GPS unit were stolen from a vehicle that was discovered broken into at Sun Pontiac on Sunrise Highway on April 14.

Thefts from four vehicles parked on Smith Street, Stephen Lane, Stratford Road and Princeton Drive North were discovered April 14. Three of the vehicles were broken into, and one was unlocked. Items stolen included wallets, an iPod and a GPS unit.

An unusual and suspicious incident at Park and Oakland avenues was reported April 14 by an 11-year-old boy. An unknown man, approximately 50 years old with salt-and-pepper hair and driving a reddish older-model vehicle, asked the boy and his friend if they would like some free candy as they rode their bikes past his vehicle.

Baldwin

Money was discovered stolen and cash registers were broken at Amisana Bagels on Merrick Road on April 14. Entry was gained by damaging a rear door.

Elmont

On April 14, the cockpit of a plane en route to JFK International Airport was struck three times with a green laser light by what appeared to be a handheld apparatus, police said. The incident occurred at approximately 2,000 feet as the American Eagle flight was approaching a runway. The pilot stated the first laser hit struck him in his eyes causing temporary blind spots.

Franklin Square

Tires and rims were stolen April 12 from a 2010 Nissan sedan parked on Southern Drive.

Landscaping equipment valued at more than $1,000 was discovered stolen April 16 from a gated property on Hempstead Turnpike.

Two businesses, a bakery and a convenience store, located next to each on Hempstead Turnpike were discovered burglarized April 16, and $2,000 was stolen.

Freeport

A 1991 red Honda Civic was stolen from Bedell Street April 15.

A Roosevelt man was struck by a hit-and-run driver on East Sunrise Highway April 17 The victim sustained leg and facial injuries.

Garden City South

A home invasion occurred on Roxbury Road South April 16. Entry was made through an unlocked rear window, and jewelry, $2,040 and keys were stolen while the house was occupied.

Glen Cove

A 42-year-old male was arrested on Forest Avenue April 17 and charged resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and obstructing governmental administration.

Lakeview

A 1997 Ford Taurus left abandoned on Jefferson Avenue for approximately four months was set on fire April 14.

Long Beach

A Laurelton man, 36, was arrested April 11 on West Hudson Street and accused of being in criminal possession of a knife, menacing and violating an order of protection.

Roosevelt

A 1998 Mazda Protege was stolen from Lakewood Avenue April 13.

Uniondale

A 1995 Nissan Maxima was stolen from a Uniondale Avenue residence on April 13.

A 2002 Nissan Altima was stolen April 16 from a driveway on Jerusalem Avenue.

Valley Stream

Tools, a passport and personal papers were stolen April 14 from a vehicle parked in the Wal-mart lot at the Green Acres Mall.

A passport and $100 were stolen from a vehicle parked in the Macy's lot at Green Acres Mall April 14.

On April 15 a Nelson Road resident heard shots being fired at his house. Several bullet holes were found in the front window; damage was estimated at $2,000. A witness observed a dark green Honda Pilot traveling in the area.
