The Newbridge Road School was burglarized Jan. 9. A computer monitor, two cases of Gatorade and two fire extinguishers were stolen.
East Farmingdale
Mid-Island Wholesale Fruit on New Highway was burglarized Jan. 3. A safe containing cash and checks was stolen.
There was an attempted burglary of a home on Lawrence Drive on Jan. 8. A resident heard a noise coming from the backyard and observed a suspect jumping over the fence.
ELSEWHERE
A burglary at a residence on New York Avenue was discovered Jan. 3. Personal papers, a cell phone, a computer, computer software and video games were stolen.
A Tennyson Avenue home was burglarized Jan. 5. Entry was made through a basement window. The suspect triggered the alarm and left without taking anything. He dropped his wallet, which police retrieved.
A Henhawk Road home was
burglarized Jan. 6. Jewelry, an Xbox
and a PlayStation were reported taken.
A customer, returning to The Home Depot on Jericho Turnpike on Jan. 4 to retrieve keys and a BlackBerry he left behind in a self-serve checkout terminal, was unable to locate them.
An unknown person stole pants and T-shirts from a display table at The Gap store on East Jericho Turnpike on Jan. 3.
A 1995 Honda Civic was stolen on 25th Street on Jan. 4.
The side window of a Ford Explorer parked in The Home Depot lot on Route 27 was smashed Jan. 4. Electronic items, including a GPS unit, were stolen.
An unknown person dispensed gas into a four-door Honda at the Sunoco gas station on Deer Park Avenue on Jan. 4 and drove away without paying.
An unsuccessful attempt was made to break into a Burr Road residence Jan. 4. A rear door window was discovered broken, but no entry was made into the home.
Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Jan. 5 at the intersection of Church Street and Merrick Road. A double-parked vehicle was shot at, and a passenger in the car was struck in the lower back.
A 33-year-old woman was arrested Jan. 6 on Mansion Drive and charged with third-degree grand larceny.
A Croley Street home was burglarized Jan. 5. The rear door was kicked in, and jewelry was stolen.
An unknown female inquiring about a job at Quetzalcoatl restaurant on Main Street stole cash from a bag in the office area Jan. 4.
A metal object was thrown through a window at a BP gas station on Route 25 on Jan. 3.
A burglary was discovered at the Town of Smithtown municipal service facility on Old Northport Road on Jan. 4. A Honda Polaris all-terrain vehicle, a gas meter and a Honda generator were stolen from a storage container on the property. Additionally, a weigh station trailer was broken into, and someone tried to pry open a bolted-down safe.
A 20-year-old man was arrested on East Pine Street Jan. 3 and charged with menacing.
A man, 39, was arrested Jan. 5 on East Park Avenue and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license and failing to obey a traffic device.
A North Carolina man, 23, was arrested Jan. 4 at the Martin Luther King Center and charged with assault.
A South Carolina woman, 19, and a Brooklyn woman, 18, were arrested Jan. 8 at the Best Western Mill River Manor on Sunrise Highway on prostitution charges.
A Mansfield Avenue residence was burglarized Jan. 3. Two flat-screen TVs, a PlayStation, an Xbox, video games, kitchen utensils and photos were stolen.
A 1992 Toyota Camry was stolen from in front of a residence on Hudson Avenue on Jan. 5.
A 2009 Nissan was stolen Jan. 9 on Nassau Road. The vehicle was left running with the keys in the ignition in front of a store.
A burglary was discovered at a North Country Road residence Jan. 3. Jewelry, including a Rolex watch, and unopened boxes containing a 32-inch flat-screen television and a Xbox video game system were stolen.
There was an attempted burglary on Summer Avenue residence Jan. 8. The rear door was damaged, but entry was not made into the home.
