One hid in a barn, two lived under false identities. The three Friedman siblings survived the war and settled in New Jersey. They corroborated Gloria Glantz's testimony when she submitted her documents to Yad Vashem with assistance from Mordecai Paldiel, who will be speaking at the Community Synagogue in Port Washington during the "A Light in the Darkness" program.

For 24 years, Paldiel headed the Department of the Righteous at Yad Vashem in Israel. Now living in Fort Lee, N.J., he is considered a leading Holocaust academic in the United States. Paldiel teaches at Yeshiva University-Stern College and volunteers his time to help anyone who wishes to declare a Righteous Christian.

He can be reached at mpaldiel@gmail.com.
