55thRUTHIE AND RUDY SCHWARTZ of Long Beach were wed on Nov. 24, 1956. They celebrated in South Africa on a safari in October. They started a business in Oceanside in 1970. They retired in 2002, and the business is still in the family. Rudy is a Korean War veteran and is active at Jewish War Veterans Post 717 in Oceanside. Ruthie designs jewelry and donates them as gifts for charities. They have three sons and six grandchildren.
50thPATRICIA AND JOSEPH
AIELLO of Massapequa were married at Maria Regina Church on Dec. 17, 1961. They celebrated at a surprise party in November and again with family at Woodloch Pines Resort in the Poconos. Joseph, originally from Brooklyn, moved to Massapequa in 1937; the couple still live on the property given to them by his parents as a wedding gift. Joseph retired from the glass and storefront business and currently runs a family real estate business his father started in the 1930s. Patricia works as an office manager for a local doctor. They have five children and three grandsons.
50thHELEN AND THOMAS HILL of Oakdale were wed Nov. 4, 1961, in the Bronx. They renewed their vows and celebrated with family and friends at a party at their daughter's home. Helen is a retired teacher assistant. Tom is a bus driver with the Connetecquot school district. Tom enjoys bowling, and Helen enjoys watching old movies. They have four children and eight grandchildren.
50thKAY AND TONY ROMANO of Hauppauge were wed Nov. 26, 1961. They celebrated with family and friends at La Famiglia Restaurant in Smithtown. The celebration continued with a trip to Disney World with their two children and three grandchildren. Tony retired from August Martin High School in Jamaica, Queens. Kay retired from Estée Lauder in Hauppauge.
50thBETTY AND BOB SONNER of Huntington Station celebrated Jan. 7 with a party at Hempstead Golf and Country Club hosted by their four children and nine grandchildren. Betty is a homemaker. Bob retired after 48 years in the aviation service business.
