65th
ALICE AND MAURICE PALTROWITZ of Merrick celebrated on March 24 with their two children. They met at a dance in Brooklyn on Christmas in 1945. Maurice was a recruiting officer for the U.S. Army, and Alice was a secretary. They have seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
60th
EILEEN AND TOM COOK of Wantagh were married April 22, 1950. Tom is a retired New York City Police sergeant, and Eileen is a homemaker. They volunteer together and separately at various church and community organizations. Tom is a Knights of Columbus member. They have eight children, 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
50th
RUTH AND JOSEPH STURGESS of Jericho were married Feb. 14, 1960, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Garden City. They celebrated with a lunch at the Milleridge Inn with family and friends. A summer trip to the Canadian Rockies is planned. Joseph is a U.S. Air Force veteran, retired from Sperry Corp. and volunteers with the Greater Long Island Running Club. Ruth retired from Syosset Tennis Academy and volunteers with Riding for the Handicapped in Syosset. They have two children and two grandchildren.

RHODA AND STANLEY SCHNITZER of St. James, formerly of Valley Stream, were married at Aperion Manor in Brooklyn on Feb. 28, 1960. They celebrated with a family dinner at La Famiglia in Smithtown hosted by their children. A cruise to the Bahamas is planned. Stanley is a retired pharmacist, and Rhoda is a retired bookkeeper. They have three children and three grandsons.
50th
RUTH AND WALTER LOUDER, longtime Central Islip residents, were married April 3, 1960. They celebrated at H.R. Singleton's in Bethpage. Walter was in the U.S. Air Force, serving part of his tour in Japan, and is retired from the New York City Transit Police. Ruth retired as a senior telephone operator for Stony Brook University Medical Center. They have two children and four grandchildren.
50th
CLARE AND JOHN HELLDORFER of Centerport were married Feb. 20, 1960. They celebrated with a renewal of vows at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Centerport. A party was given by their three children at Mill Pond House in Centerport. John is a retired tax manager, and Clare is a retired church secretary. They have six grandchildren.
