Kathleen Monahan has received a $25,000 award from the Long Island Network for Clinical and Translational Science to continue her study, titled “Brain Metabolism and Cognitive Impairment Following Traumatic Brain Injury of Domestic Violence Shelter Residents.” Monahan is an associate professor in Stony Brook University’s School of Social Welfare, where she has worked for more than two decades. The goal of her study is to use advanced brain imaging along with detailed neuropsychological evaluations to better understand the aftereffects of domestic violence.
